Curricular Updates

Clerkship Launch

On March 18th, the Service-Learning Program officially launched the Clerkship component of the 4-year longitudinal Service-Learning Course. During the clerkship phase of the Service-Learning Course, students will partner with community based organizations to prepare and implement a Community Health Fair based on the community organization’s identified needs. Our first health fair will take place on Thursday, April 18th in partnership with Friends of Pelham Parkway in honor of Earth Day. In addition to working in student teams to create stations for the health fair, students will also choose from a list of available service opportunities, reconnect with the organization they served in the pre-clerkship phase, or serve an organization of their choosing to fulfill 20 hours of service during their rotation. We are thrilled to embark on this new phase of the course with our community partners and students!

New Partners

The Service-Learning Program has also added several new community partners that will offer service opportunities for our Clerkship students. Please join us in welcoming our partners from the Ali Forney Center, and Riverdale Senior Services!

Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

white blur circle gradient

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

Dr. martin luther king jr.

From January 13th through January 21st, Einstein students, faculty, postdocs, and staff volunteered their time to serve the Bronx community to honor the memory of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

A HUGE thank you to all of our community partners who welcomed volunteers! Thank you to...

During the MLK Week of Service, volunteers engaged in a variety of impactful activities to support their community. They organized and shelved items at a food pantry, packaged and distributed essential groceries to 300 families, and provided vital health screenings, including blood pressure and diabetes checks, to unhoused individuals. Additionally, they played a pivotal role in educating future generations by guiding high school students through Einstein’s science labs and sparking discussions about careers in science and medicine. These efforts not only commemorated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy but also made a tangible difference in the lives of many.

"Einstein’s mission and ongoing pursuit of health equity and social justice aligns with Dr. King’s legacy, and we honor him with our MLK Week of Service..."
